DOE Guidelines for Home Energy Professionals

Members of NREL’s Guidelines project team will provide insight on how to leverage the resources developed through the DOE’s Guidelines project to increase profits and reduce costs by delivering quality work by competent workers resulting in improved service delivery, fewer callbacks, and reduced installation errors.The Guidelines for Home Energy Professionals project is a collaboration between the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the home energy performance industry to support an effective and highly-skilled weatherization workforce.The DOE Weatherization and Intergovernmental Program (WIP) oversees the direction and delivery of the project, which was developed by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). ThisBrownBagSeries presentation will feature an update from NREL on three components of the Guidelines project, including:·Standard Work Specifications (SWSs) that define the outcomes of quality work, setting uniform expectations that can be leveraged in energy audits, scopes of work, quality control efforts, and training.·Home Energy Professional Certifications that differentiate home energy upgrade companies with DOE-supported credentials that instill consumer value and trust.·Accredited training programs and professional certifications that make it easier to find, hire, and retain capable and committed employees with increased confidence and pride in workmanship.
